Over the next year, the GCF Task Force coalition will hold meetings in Indonesia. As one of the founders, Indonesia has become a leading example in reducing deforestation and forest degradation rates globally. And in 2027, West Papua Province will officially become the chair of this coalition.
Starting from technical exchanges in West Kalimantan Province on September 8-10, 2026, to the annual meeting in West Papua Province in June 2027, a network consisting of 54 subnational jurisdictions from 11 countries will gather to share experiences and lessons learned, discuss ideas, and formulate recommendations to shape a New Forest Economy (www.gcftf.org/what-we-do/new-forest-economy/).

The West Kalimantan Provincial Government became the first subnational Requesting Authority in the world on the CDP platform. This program will showcase West Kalimantan's investment-ready landscape portfolio to national and international audiences, while also opening access to climate funding and supply chain involvement for 50 priority companies in the Mata Pandawa Biosphere Reserve area. This initiative positions West Kalimantan as an ideal location to discuss various public-private partnership mechanisms in conservation and restoration efforts.
This Technical Exchange will not only present West Kalimantan's initiatives, but also provide insights from California's Cap-and-Invest program, Mato Grosso's PCI, and other examples from Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Nigeria, as well as other GCF Task Force member jurisdictions in Indonesia.
